Hero MotoCorp has officially launched the much-awaited Hero Xoom 125, a bold and feature-rich entry into the 125 cc scooter segment. First unveiled as the Xoom 125R at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, the production model brings aggressive styling, peppy performance, and loaded features that directly challenge rivals like the TVS Ntorq 125 and Suzuki Avenis.
Sporty Styling with a Futuristic Edge
The Hero Xoom 125 strikes a commanding presence with its sharp design elements. The front fascia features a LED projector headlamp with falcon-inspired LED DRLs, split tail lamps, and sequential turn indicators. The overall styling leans toward a sporty character, amplified by 14-inch alloy wheels and bold body panels.
The scooter is available in multiple dual-tone colour options with contrasting graphics, appealing to younger riders who value aesthetics as much as performance.
Engine & Performance
Powering the Xoom 125 is a 124.6 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine tuned to deliver:
- 9.8 bhp @ 7,250 rpm
- 10.4 Nm torque @ 6,000 rpm
It uses a CVT transmission and features Hero’s i3S idle start-stop system, aiding in better fuel efficiency during city rides. The brand claims a 0–60 km/h time of just 7.6 seconds, making it one of the quickest scooters in its class.
Mileage & Ride Quality
While it focuses on performance, the real-world fuel efficiency is rated around 52–55 km/l, offering a good balance for both daily commutes and weekend rides. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic front fork and a monoshock at the rear, tuned for urban comfort and stability.
Feature-Rich Variants
The scooter is available in two main variants:
Hero Xoom 125 VX
The Hero Xoom 125 VX variant offers a well-balanced package for riders seeking essential performance with modern features. It comes equipped with 14-inch alloy wheels that provide enhanced stability and road grip. Braking is handled by drum brakes at both ends, supported by a Combined Braking System for added safety. The scooter features a fully digital instrument cluster, delivering all vital ride information at a glance. Hero’s signature i3S start-stop system ensures better fuel efficiency during stop-and-go traffic. Additionally, the VX gets a side-stand engine cut-off function, enhancing safety by preventing unintended starts.
Hero Xoom 125 ZX
The top-end Hero Xoom 125 ZX variant packs in a premium set of features aimed at tech-savvy and performance-focused riders. It comes with a front disc brake with a petal rotor, offering improved braking efficiency and control. The Bluetooth-enabled digital console supports turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call alerts, and other smart functions. Convenience is further enhanced with a boot lamp, USB charging port, and an illuminated start/stop switch. The ZX also features sequential LED indicators that add to its striking road presence, while a front cubby hole provides handy storage space for small items or gadgets.
Dimensions & Practicality
In terms of practicality, the Hero Xoom 125 offers a well-balanced design suited for daily urban commuting. It has a kerb weight of 120–121 kg, varying slightly between variants, ensuring easy maneuverability. The seat height stands at 777 mm, making it accessible for riders of varying heights, while a ground clearance of 164 mm ensures confident riding over speed bumps and rough roads. The 5-litre fuel tank offers decent range for city usage. Underseat storage is adequate to hold a half-face helmet, and the ZX variant also includes a front storage cubby for added utility. The upright handlebar positioning and a comfortable, wide seat make the scooter well-suited for both solo and pillion riders.
Brakes, Tyres & Stability
Equipped with 14-inch alloy wheels, the scooter gets a 110/80 tyre at the front and a 120/70 section at the rear, offering enhanced grip and road presence. The Combined Braking System (CBS) comes standard across variants, ensuring safety and shorter braking distances.
